Miracle Theatre Group, the Northwest's premier Latino arts and culture organization, is pleased to announce its "Take a Seat" campaign, a capital improvement project prompted by audience feedback surveys. Over the summer, Miracle Theatre will send off all 121 theatre seats to be restored by a local upholstery business.
By restoring rather than replacing theatre seats, the organization preserves local history and lessens environmental impact. "The seats originally belonged to the old Portland Civic Theatre, the largest community Theatre West of the Mississippi and actually where I started my career," explained Jose González, Executive Director and co-founder of the Miracle Theatre Group. The current arrangement helps create an intimate environment, rich in history and tradition. Restoration will preserve this atmosphere with added comfort.Improvements to the theatre seating are part of a larger project that will enhance lighting and sound in the Milagro Theatre and continue to develop El Zócalo, Miracle's new space designated for community use. These enhancements will carry forward Miracle Theatre's vision of a cultural and artistic epicenter for community artists and audiences alike.Videos
