Steve Martin has offered to fund an off-campus production of his play 'Picasso at the Lapin Agile'. The play was banned from La Grande High School due to 'adult content'.

According to NYtimes.com, "The actor and comedian said in a letter to a newspaper that he wants to keep the play, conducted in other high schools without controversy, 'from acquiring a reputation it does not deserve.'"

The play is accused of having adult themes including "people drinking in bars and treating women as sex objects."

The play was written by Steve Martin in 1993. It features the characters of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso who meet at a bar called the Lapin Agile in Paris. The two men engage in a lengthy debate about the value of genius and talent.

After a petition was signed by 137 people, the school halted rehearsals. Martin then read of the controversy and he offered the money to produce the play elsewhere.
