The Lost Treasures Collection, a series of rarely performed musical gems, continues its second season at Lakewood Theatre Company with the musical, Minnie's Boys. This show, the second in a series of musicals featuring movie themes, is presented in a concert/cabaret style. Minnie's Boys will be performed for two nights only, Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7, 2012 on Lakewood's Side Door stage. The title sponsor for the series is Banner Bank.

The Story: Minnie's Boys features a book by Arthur Marx and Robert Fisher, music by Larry Grossman, and lyrics by Hal Hackady. This madcap Marx Brothers musical is a touching, song-filled celebration of the origins of the show-business legends and the family's gutsy, tender, matriarch Minnie Marx (Annie Kaiser), an extraordinary woman who gave birth to a generation of laughter in the form of the maddest, merriest quintet that ever drove a mother and then the whole world wild. This is their story-and Minnie's as well. "Mama a Rainbow," "Rich Is," "Where Was I When They Passed Out Luck?" and the title song are just a few of the catchy, Broadway-style melodies in this memorable score from Larry Grossman, composer of Goodtime Charley and Snoopy.

The cast includes Bobby Jackson, Bobby Ryan, Sean Powell, David Maier and Ryan Duncan as the Marx Brothers and Maggie Chapin in the roles of several females they encounter. The production is directed by Ron Daum and Eric Little is musical director. Alex Diaz is the production's lighting designer and Kay Vega is the producer.

The show is presented script-in-hand, with minimal staging. No sets, no props (free from the usual trappings of a fully staged production). Food and beverages are available for purchase before and during the show.

Ticket prices are $18 for all seats. Contact the Lakewood Theatre Box Office at (503) 635-3901 or order securely online at www.lakewood-center.org. Lakewood Theatre Company's Side Door Stage is located in the Community Meeting Room at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.

The 2011-12 Lost Treasures series of plays includes Mack and Mabel (October 21-22, 2011), Minnie's Boys (January 6-7, 2012) and Goldilocks (April 20-21, 2012).
