Lakewood Theatre Company is proud to present at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, for one night only, the play A. Lincoln.
This one-person play, featuring Steve Holgate in the lead role, captures the life and times of Abraham Lincoln our 16th president. The performance date of November 19 is significant in that it is also the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg address.
The theatre is located at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego. Ticket prices are $15/adults and $10/Students and Seniors.
A. Lincoln, conceived, written and performed by Steve Holgate, brings Abraham Lincoln to life in a two-act production through letters, speeches, newspaper stories and conversation. Critics have lauded Mr. Holgate's performance as an intimate portrayal that personally conveys the spirit and laconic nature of the man.
Over the course of the two-hour performance, Holgate resurrects the solemn, stately man, born in a one-room log cabin in Kentucky, raised with little-to-no formal education but with eventual careers as a congressman, lawyer and one of the most well-known U.S. presidents.
A Civil War buff since childhood, Steve Holgate has been portraying Abraham Lincoln onstage for more than thirteen years in libraries, schools and historic venues throughout the U.S. and internationally from Mexico to Sri Lanka.
Steve Holgate is a sixth-generation Oregonian who served for several years as a legislative staffer for the United States Congress and the Oregon State Senate before joining the Foreign Service in 1984. While with the Foreign Service, he served in Paris, Madagascar, Morocco, Mexico and Sri Lanka as well as in Washington, D.C. before retiring in 2002.
