Lakewood Theatre Company's 2011-2012 Season closes tonight, April 15, its production of Ernest Thompson's award-winning play about a couple in the twilight years of a long and glorious marriage.

The Story: The Thayers, open-hearted Ethel (Jane Fellows) and irascible Norman (Tobias Andersen), return to their cottage on Golden Pond for their 48th summer. Summer begins in its usual fashion, with time spent on Parcheesi, berry-picking, and coping with the mosquitoes and moths that surround the lakeside cottage. But their peace is disrupted by an unexpected visit from their divorced daughter Chelsea (Beth Mcshane), who arrives with not only a big chip on her shoulder, but her new fiancé Bill Ray (Bill Barry) and his 13 year-old son, Billy Ray Jr (Nathan Berl). Providing comment and perspective on the family relationships is friend Charlie (Doug Richardson). The rocky relationship between father and daughter, the generation gap and the difficulties facing a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage, all combine to give this play by Ernest Thompson a unique insight into the modern family. A beloved theatre classic that is touching, funny and warmly perceptive.

On Golden Pond, written by Ernest Thompson, is directed by Kirk Mouser. The production team includes Felix Kelsey, stage manager; John Gerth, set design; Patricia J. Rohrbach, costume design; Jeff Woods, light design; Dan Hallberg, sound design, Kurt Herman, technical director and Kay Vega, producer.
