The annual Jerry Paine Scholarship Fundraiser Show will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at Gallery Theater. This is a fun event for the whole family.

The theme of this year's annual Gallery show is a salute to the company which featured the little advertising signs by the side of the road that said "Burma Shave!" This year's radio show will feature Steve Teal as the radio host and Gallery veteran, Adam Ewing as the show's stage manager. Featured musical guests will be Chelsea Janzen, the mixed vocal quartet, "Four Guys and a Gayle," The Dayton Community Chorus a.k.a. "The Day-Tones," a female music ensemble, "The Stardust Trio," and the saxophone ensemble, "Double Fforte." The host musical group will be The Frank Messina Big Band.

Radio personalities to be featured will be Meridith Symons as "Burma Shave Betty" and Heidi Fernandez as "Dear Miss Heidi." In keeping with the 1940's theme, the show will feature a community sing-a-long, a radio play, "The Further Adventures of Smokey Joe," a Burma-Shave jingle writing contest, and a salute to current and former members of America's armed forces.

The show is directed by Mark Williams, produced by Joyce Messina with musical direction by Frank Messina.

This year marks the 23rd anniversary of Jerry Paine's passing. Jerry was a Gallery Theater regular for many years, and a great friend to so many who knew him and worked with him. When he died in 1986, he left a permanent legacy by giving a sum of money to Gallery Theater, with the wish that it be used to provide scholarships for high school seniors who planned to pursue the performing arts in college. Gallery Theater is honored to provide this scholarship every year, and the revenue that is generated by the annual Fundraiser Show ensures that we will continue to do so. Look for a special tribute to Jerry Paine in the Gallery Theater lobby when you attend the show, and learn more about this wonderful, generous human being.
