The Lost Treasures Collection, a series of rarely performed musicals, continues its second season at Lakewood Theatre Company with the musical, Goldilocks, directed by Ron Daum. This show, the third in a series of musicals featuring movie themes, is presented in a concert/cabaret style and will be performed for two nights only, Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21, 2012 on Lakewood's Side Door stage. The musical features a book by Jean and Walter Kerr, music by Leroy Anderson, and lyrics by the Kerrs and Joan Ford. The title sponsor for the series is Banner Bank.
The Story: Maggie Harris (LisaMarie Harrison), a musical comedy star of the 1913 Broadway stage is set to marry the millionaire George Randolph Brown (Alan Anderson) and retire. That is, until she is reminded that she is under contract to star in a movie for director Max Grady (Mike Dederian). She resigns herself to shoot the picture, but difficulties arise as the movie evolves into an epic about ancient Egypt and filming extends well beyond the amount of time Grady promised it would take to make the movie. Eventually, Max succeeds in producing his Egyptian epic and, in the end, he and Maggie realize that they are truly in love with one another.
The cast includes LisaMarie Harrison, Mike Dederian, Alan Anderson, Kylie Clark Johnson, Darren Hurley, Joan Freed and Teresa Renee Lawrence. The production is directed by Ron Daum and David Hastings is musical director. Kurt Herman is the production's lighting designer and Kay Vega is the producer.
The show is presented script-in-hand, with minimal staging. No sets, no props (free from the usual trappings of a fully staged production). Food and beverages are available for purchase before and during the show.
