Good Theater kicks off its 12th season with the 2012 Tony Award winning Best Play CLYBOURNE PARK by Bruce Norris, playing October 2-27, at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland. Contact Good Theater at 207-885-5885 or www.goodtheater.com for tickets and information.

CLYBOURNE PARK also won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama along with London's Olivier Award for Best Play. CLYBOURNE PARK is written in response to Lorraine Hansberry's award winning play A Raisin in the Sun (1959); it portrays fictional events set before and after the Hansberry play and is loosely based on historical events based in the city of Chicago. It premiered in February 2010 at Playwrights Horizons in New York.

The Good Theater production stars Good Theater favorites Stephen Underwood, Amy Roche and Mark Rubin and Noelle LuSane who made her Good Theater debut in last season's Good People,. Newcomers to Good Theater Lucas O'Neill, Bari Robinson, and local Equity actress, Sally Wood also star in this seven actor dramatic comedy. Brian P. Allen, Good Theater's Artistic Director, directs the production. The complicated set design is by Stephen Underwood, with costume design by Justin Cote and lighting design by Iain Odlin. Craig Robinson serves as the assistant technical director and Justin Cote is the production stage manager.

CLYBOURNE PARK plays Wednesdays 7:00* ($20), Thursdays 7:00 ($20), Fridays 7:30 ($25), Saturday 3:00* ($25), Saturday 7:30 ($28), Sundays 2:00 ($28). *Wednesdays 10/2 & 10/9, Saturdays 3:00 10/19 & 10/26.

CLYBOURNE PARK explodes in two outrageous acts set fifty years apart. Act 1 takes place in 1959, as nervous community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. Act 2 is set in the same house in the present day, as the now predominantly African-American neighborhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification.

In addition to CLYBOURNE PARK, Good Theater will offer the Maine premiere of A.R. Gurney's THE GRAND MANNER November 6-24, the Portland premiere of BECKY'S NEW CAR by Steven Dietz January 29 - February 23 and the New England premiere of THE OUTGOING TIDE by Bruce Norris March 5-30, plus the company will present its annual Broadway at Good Theater concerts December 5-8. Season tickets are currently on sale for the four mainstage productions with prices starting as low as $60 for the four shows.
