Broadway veteran Justin Brill will return for a two-day master class April 13 and 14, 2:00-5:00 PM at Lakewood Theatre. Mr. Brill conducted a one-day Musical Theatre Workshop at LTC last year while in Portland with the National Tour of Wicked, which resulted in an overwhelming response.

This year's master class has been expanded to two days. Mr. Brill will focus on monologues, singing technique, song selection, acting within a song and honing musical theatre audition technique. The master class is geared to actors interested in auditioning for productions, competitions, professional training and college or conservatory programs.

Some of the participants will have the opportunity to perform with Mr. Brill in his cabaret performance on Monday, April 15 as a benefit performance for LTC's Rising Stars program (education and performance opportunities for emerging talent).

Mr. Brill, currently on tour in the role of Boq in Wicked is a graduate of the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama where he was the recipient of Charles Willard Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre. His Broadway credits include All Shook Up!, Rent and High Fidelity. Other productions include Beauty and the Beast (National Tour), Mamma Mia! and Monty Python's Spamalot (Las Vegas)

Class description:
Actors should have two contrasting songs and monologues prepared. Each participant will be asked to perform approximately 16-32 bars of one song and a 2-minute monologue. Mr. Brill will work with each participant with monologues and acting on Saturday then focus on prepared vocal selections on Sunday.

An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key, with your start and stop points clearly marked. We suggest that you set your music in a three ring binder for the accompanist. If you prefer to bring your own accompanist, you may. You may not sing a cappella. You may not accompany yourself. No recorded music will be allowed.

Cost for the two-day master class will be $125. Those interested in observing the master class may do so for $15 each day or $25 for both.

Registration:
Participation in the master class is limited. Pre-registration is required so call 503-635-3901 immediately. The master class will be at the Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.
