Complimentary bilingual study guide available from www.milagro.org or julieth@milagro.org.A traveling troupe of actors has come to town to put on a show, but there is one small problem: the actor playing the lead role thinks he really is Don Quixote! Do they try to stop him? Or let him seek the impossible dream? Actors and audience members alike will be pulled into this interactive drama inspired by the famous novel by Cervantes. Throughout this short bilingual play, the audience will experience the adventures of a young girl who does not like to read and yet is drawn into Don Quixote's world at the library. Unbelieving at first, she ends up a true champion for Don Quixote's cause - ¡Leer es Poder! Reading is Power!
Part of our larger "Adventures" program, Aventuras de Don Quixote shares engaging arts activities that promote literacy for young children. The program has been successfully presented throughout Oregon, and is supported by grant funding to create an affordable opportunity for educational institutions and libraries. In addition to performances, Teatro Milagro's professional actors can engage youth in bilingual arts workshops in theatre, dance, music, poetry and visual art.
Aventuras de Don Quixote is a half-hour, 4-person show that can be presented in any space with a clear floor. Single performances are $500, plus travel expenses depending on location. Add-on workshops of 1 or 2 hours can be individually tailored as a one-time activity or an ongoing arts camp.
