An interesting musical project that shows the influence of the Polish mountains, highland music and tradition on the works of prominent Polish composers: Karol Szymanowski, Henryk Miko?aj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, and Mieczys?aw Kar?owicz. It’s an original insight into the works of the masters passed through both the modern sound of music straight from the mountains and classical interpretations of famous works. Two musical trends collide on the stage: folk and classical. The music is accompanied by an animation based on pictures from three books of photographs by Kar?owicz. The project brings together the excellent pianist and great interpreter of classical music, Janusz Olejniczak, and 16 musicians of the young generation, including the core of the Zakopower band and Sebastian Karpiel-Bu?ecka, Jan Smoczy?ski, the Atom String Quartet, Jan M?ynarski, Micha? Bara?ski as well as the NEO Quartet. The whole is conducted by Jerzy Maksymiuk. The gala premiere of the concert took place on 4 July 2011 in the scenery of the Royal Palace in Madrid. In Poland, the concert has been played three times already at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw.
