Jubilee held under the honorary patronage of Polish President Bronis?aw Komorowski
A concert of folk and national music, songs and dances, featuring the ensemble’s soloists, choir, ballet and orchestra. The largest part of the programme comprises compositions or arrangements by Stanis?aw Hadyna and choreographies by Elwira Kami?ska. The programme includes many popular songs by Stanis?aw Hadyna: “Karolinka”, “Sz?a dzieweczka”, “Hej te nasze góry”, “Helokanie”, “Ondraszek”, “Starzyk” as well as musical arrangements of dances such as the trojak, scarf dance, kujawiak with oberek, krakowiak, polonaise with mazurka, and dances of the Podhale highlanders. The author of the creative designs of these dances, whose choreographic style never ceases to amaze, is Elwira Kami?ska.
The ?l?sk ensemble was established in 1953. Its founders, Stanis?aw Hadyna and Elwira Kami?ska, built a solid foundation for ?l?sk’s present-day artistry. The ensemble is a company with huge performance possibilities and appears not only on the world’s leading stages but also in localities that do not have easy daily access to worthwhile cultural events. The main idea behind the ensemble’s activity is to present the wealth of Silesian culture against the background of the heritage of other regions of Poland. Every year the ensemble appears in about 120 performances in Poland and abroad.
With more than a hundred members, the ensemble includes a choir, a ballet group and an orchestra. Collaboration with authorities form the field of cultural studies has resulted in a potential that guarantees performances of the highest artistic standard. It is this artistic standard that has won the ensemble recognition all over the world. ?l?sk has visited 44 countries on five continents, giving more than 7,000 performances for over 25 million viewers.
