LE MIS - how admirers shorten the title - is a musical of all times. January this year in London the performance had been played for 10000 time what is an absolute world record and has no equivalent on Broadway. The year 2010 is a jubilee year - it has been 25 years since the premiere of this exceptional work on West End.

The musical, based on a timeless novel of Victor Hugo ‚Les Miserable‘ moves the issues so contemporary that for a quarter of a century audience from over 40 countries have been identifying with them! Obviously, great is the merit of Claude-Michel Schonberg‘s music (the author of ‚Miss Saigon‘). It's LES MIS where origins the hit „I Dreamed a Dream" - the song perfomed by a TV star, Susan Boyle, watched over 120 mln people over the Internet only in 2009! And there is more - there is no other musical with so many hits as LES MIS, including On My Own, Bring Him Home and the legendary hymn Do You Hear The People Sing?

The Polish staging of LES MIS in the ROMA Musical Theatre is another „non-replica production" directed by Wojciech K?pczy?ski. Along with th director works a team of excellent executors, of which some have worked at other productions at ROMA MT, including II director Sebastian Gonciarz, music director Maciej Paw?owski (at ROMA MT from the beginning), costume designer Magda Tes?awska i Pawe? Grabarczyk („The Phantom of the Opera"), stage designer Grzegorz Polici?ski, choreographer Paulina Andrzejewska („The Phantom of the Opera"), and libretto translator Daniel Wyszogrodzki („The Phantom of the Opera").

About 800 people came to take part in castings for the musical LES MIS. Our British partners stressed that the candidates‘ level was very high. Together with them we chose the best cast. And so in the main role of Jean Valjean will be Janusz Kruci?ski („Jekyll & Hyde", „Jesus Christ Superstar"), as his antagonist, inspector Javerta will play ?ukasz Dziedzic („Vampires‘ Dance", „Francesco", „Fiddler on the Roof"), and as Fantine we will see Edyta Krzemie? („The Phantom of the Oper").

Marcin Mrozi?ski - Polish representative on Eurovision 2010 - plays Marius, and the object of his love , Cosette, will play Paulina Janczak. Both of them are currently performing at ROMA Musical Theatre in the first cast of „Phantom of the Opera". As a charismatic leader of rebellious students, Enjolras, ?ukasz Zagobelny („Cats", „Vampires‘ Dance", „Academy of Mr. Kleks") returns on the stage at ROMA. As a horrifying Thenardier marrige will play Anna Dzionek and Tomasz Steciuk („Miss Saigon", „Cats", Academy of Mr. Kleks"). And as Eponine we will see Ewa Lachowicz.

After a fantastic success of „Phantom at the Opera" (600 performances, over half a million spectators) LES MIS bacome even bigger challenge of staging. LES MIS is a grand literature, grand passion, grand ideas. And grand production, because showing the fate of many characters over many years requires an unprecedented momentum at a music theatre (barricade in the II Act is legendary).

There are also already taking place works over an album with Polish version of LES MISERABLES. The premiere of the album is suppose to accompany the premiere performance in October 2010.
