This year's International Opera Awards will be presented on 9 November at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw. The list of nominations was recently announced and La Monnaie was nominated in two categories.
The many efforts the company makse day after day in terms of sustainability earned them - not for the first time, by the way - a nomination in the Sustainability category
In addition, this year they have also been nominated in the Equal Opportunities & Impact category, a great recognition for the work we are realising, among others, within their social programme 'A Bridge Between Two Worlds'. La Monnaie's social commitment is not always highlighted in detail because we do not want to touch the fragility of the target groups we have been working with for several decades now. But this potential recognition obviously pleases the teams who work with ever renewed energy for those who otherwise have few opportunities for cultural participation.
In the other categories, you can also find some regular guests of La Monnaie. Conductors Nathalie Stutzmann (who was in charge of the musical direction of our Queen of Spades last season) and former music director Sir Antonio Pappano have each received a nomination within the Conductor category. In turn, sopranos Jodie Devos and Sally Matthews (MM Ambassador) have been nominated in the Recording (Solo Recital) and Readers' Award categories, respectively. Corinne Winters, who we still saw at work in our production Il trittico in 2022, also has a chance of winning an award, namely that of Female Singer.
You can find the full list of nominations on the International Opera Awards website.
