Review: TIRZA at Teatr Wspolczesny Wroclaw Image

This play is about parenthood, about the father looking for his identity among the family and discovering something that should not be discovered, or should it be?

One of the principles of this art is that no one leaves without a reason, and no one comes back for no reason. So real. The mother returns after three years of absence, the family is surprised, the daughter is angry and does not accept reality, the father is relieved. He has dealt with his daughter, his sweet lonely princess, and now, after school, he has to share her not only with her boyfriend, but also with the world when he decides to go to Africa. He fights because he has to redefine himself not only as a man, but also as a father, husband and pensioner. His purpose disappears and he is unable to cope with the situation, he is lost and will be found in a very brutal way.
The main character, Jorgen Hofmeester, is irrelevant, but Jerzy Senator made him an ordinary man in a khaki short-sleeved T-shirt, so it's hard to accept and believe what he did. It is a smooth transition from normal to abnormal, but without knowing the exact moment of the line crossing. It's like those interviews after a serial killer was exposed, when his neighbors say he was the type of man, he always kept the door open for a woman. This is the reason why it is so shocking and powerful. Good job. Jorgen's world collapses, loses his savings, his daughter, his job, and gets nothing in return.

I liked the atmosphere and the brilliant set design (Barbara Hanicka), which in a way introduced the audience. And the clock... there is a clock that chimes every minute reminding us that time goes by and everywhere.

In a "normal" world there is a great deal of anxiety and hidden pathology.

I loved the performance (and I was not the only one) mainly because it is not too much, gray, everyday life can hide a real drama and shocking events that are stronger without a big storm. I really appreciate this approach. The show is easy to watch, but you end up slapped in the face and you can't be prepared. It was touching, moving and deeply appreciated. Great job Pawel Miskiewicz for directing such a disturbing spectacle.
