For the opening week of the festival, distinguished Mozart scholar and pianist Robert Levin joins the PSO performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 — a favorite concerto of Beethoven and other romantic composers. Mr. Levin also offers improvisations à la Mozart on themes suggested by the audience. Principal Horn William Caballero performs one of Mozart's stunning horn concertos as completed by Mr. Levin, and Maestro Honeck offers the famous "Jupiter" Symphony. Creative force Don Marinelli collaborates with the PSO for the finale of the Mozart Festival, featuring a unique presentation of selections from Mozart's most famous operas. From Mozart's sacred music "The Coronation Mass," to a partnership with the Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society featuring PSO musicians performing intimate pieces, the Mozart Festival will leave you in awe of Mozart's musical genius.
