Pittsburgh's CLO close out their 2016 season with this ten Tony Award-winning masterpiece of musical theater. A socially progressive musical for its time when it premiered in 1949, South Pacific promotes a message of social and racial harmony. It remains one of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most respected works, and won the duo the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Two love stories form the crux of the production, with the threat of World War II looming over the relatively peaceful Pacific Islands in the background. The timeless score includes 'Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair', 'Bali Ha'i' and 'One Enchanted Evening'.
