Throughline Theatre's 2015 season, "Method in Madness" has drawn to a close, and sights are now set on next year's throughline: "Can You Trust the Government." Along with the Classic, 20th Century, and Contemporary pieces, Throughline performs an original work as part of their season, and which work will be produced is determined in part by the end-of-season New Play Showcase.
This year's showcase will feature seven short excerpts from new material submitted by eight playwrights, and a cast of fifteen performers. Included are selections from Feed Us to the Woods by Randy Gross, The Real Deal by David Dietz, The Censor by David L. Williams, Family Vise by Matt Henderson, Clown and Mime by C.S. Wyatt, The Almost True and Truly Remarkable Adventures of Israel Potter, American Patriot by Joseph Bravaco & Larry Rosler, and Gracefully by Jamaica Johnson. Sarah McPartland, Associate Artistic Director for Throughline Theatre, is organizing the event, and directing four of the selections, with assistance from fellow directors Daniel Freeman, Katherine Stienstra, and Vance Weatherly.
The New Play Showcase is a one-night-only event, occurring Monday evening, November 16, with doors at 7 PM. Performances will begin at 7:30 PM, and light hors d'oeurves and drinks will be served throughout the evening. Tickets are $20 general admission, with the event serving as a small fundraiser for Throughline's upcoming seventh season. Tickets are available at the door and are first come, first served. All attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback to help determine the winner of the competition and the play that will complete the lineup for Throughline's 2016 season.
