It was exactly ten years ago today - 26 July 2001 - the "Hit Song" inspired by a meteor strike was released, launching a global entertainment act. Three days earlier, the massive 30-ton meteor had been sighted by millions of Americans as it streaked across the daytime skies of northeastern USA and exploded over a nearby wheat field, where six Susquehanna Valley musicians witnessed the event. They were immediately inspired to write and release a new song - and within 72 hours of the meteor's blast, "Hot Rock Came To The Country," was sailing across radio airwaves. A new band was born.
The Front Porch Country Band rapidly went on to meteoric acclaim. From that explosive beginning, the band took command of worldwide internet music charts, headlined the world's greatest stages, became featured artists on television specials, and more. Ten years later, they're still at it - and still having fun.
They call their music "Original American Country," and it's taken them on a worldwide journey, where they've entertained millions with their original songs written and recorded in the Susquehanna Valley. Along the way, the band has released five original albums, been featured artists over WLS, Nashville's famed "Air Castle of the South," donated thousands of dollars to the United Way, gone global on worldwide television broadcasts reaching nearly a billion - while never forgetting their Susquehanna Valley home and roots. Since the meteor hit, they've traveled the world:
"The World China Tour" - 21,000 mile tour headlining the world's greatest stages
"America Standing Tall" - historic December 7th United Way worldwide simulcast
"World's most listened-to country recording artists" - Million plays 15 months MP3.com
"Featured Artists" - OAC: The Global Voice Of America's Country Music Industry
"Randy Travis Mother's Day Show" - Opening Artists, The War Memorial, Trenton
"World Television Premiere" - Christmas night 1-Hour broadcast on PBS affiliate WVIA
"Number One Worldwide" - Most popular Country Blues song 57 weeks MP3.com
"Number One Worldwide" - Most popular Christmas song for 44 weeks on MP3.com
"America Standing Tall" World Premiere - Williamsport's Scottish Rite Auditorium
"Christmas Once Upon A Time" World Premiere - Williamsport's Community Arts Center
And they're not finished yet. Today, The Front Porch Country Band has three new albums of original songs scheduled for release beginning next year: "Time Traveler," "Storyteller," and "Acoustic Rain." According to USAgency Entertainment, the band's management, plans are now underway for a new international performance schedule. "The One World Tour" will feature dozens of the band's most popular worldwide hits. Upcoming tour dates and locations will be announced after Labor Day.
To commemorate the anniversary, the band today launched a new multi-media website with FREE downloads of the song that started it all.
