Pittsburgh Public Theater's MADE IN AMERICA season reaches its highpoint with 1776, the biggest production in Public Theater history. This Tony-winning Best Musical features book by Peter Stone and music & lyrics by Sherman Edwards. Directed by Ted Pappas, 1776 runs tonight, Jan. 24 - Feb. 24, 2013 at the O'Reilly Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater's home in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District. For tickets call 412.316.1600 or visit ppt.org. 1776 is presented by PNC.

With a cast of 26 plus orchestra, 1776 presents the heroes of the American Revolution like you've never seen them before - in rousing songs and dances, comic encounters, and impassioned politics. George Merrick (South Pacific on Broadway) stars as John Adams alongside Keith Hines (Lancelot in Camelot at Pittsburgh Public Theater) as Thomas Jefferson, and Steve Vinovich (Lost in Yonkers on Broadway) as Benjamin Franklin. As they wrangle to get everyone on the same page - namely, the Declaration of Independence - they are encouraged by allies such as AbiGail Adams (Trista Moldovan, Phantom of the Opera on Broadway) and foiled by foes like Edward Rutledge (Hayden Tee, King Arthur in Camelot at Pittsburgh Public Theater). In 1776 history will come alive in a musical extravaganza that's perfect entertainment for the whole family.

The 1776 company features: John Allen Biles, Paul Binotto, Jeffrey Carpenter, Jeremy Czarniak, Jarrod DiGiorgi, Joseph Domencic, Darren Eliker, James FitzGerald, Justin Fortunato, Robert Frankenberry, Tim Hartman, Daniel Krell, Jason McCune, Eric Meyers, Larry John Meyers, Scott P. Sambuco, John Scherer, Libby Servais, Gordon Stanley, Louis S. Valenzi, and Stephen Wilde.
The Musical Director of 1776 is F. Wade Russo with Orchestrations by Dan DeLange. The design team is James Noone (Scenic), Martha Bromelmeier (Costumes), Kirk Bookman (Lighting), and Zach Moore (Sound). Don Wadsworth is the Dialect Coach. Casting is by Stuart Howard & Paul Hardt. Ruth E. Kramer is the Production Stage Manager and Fredric H. Orner is the Assistant Stage Manager.
