Michael Frayn's hilarious farce, Noises Off, ends Pittsburgh Public Theater's Masterpiece Season with a BANG! Noises Off will be directed by Don Stephenson, who has directed plays across the country and has appeared in numerous Broadway hit productions including A Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder, Rock of Ages, and as Leo Bloom in The Producers. Noises Off runs today, May 29 - June 29, 2014 at the O'Reilly Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater's home in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District.

The ingenious Noises Off is written as a play-within-a-play. As it begins, you watch a troupe of middling British actors rehearse the sex comedy, Nothing On. In Act 2, your perspective changes and you see the action from backstage. Act 3 is a chaotic performance of Nothing On.

Noises Off is a carnival of outrageous characters, extravagant stage business, rip-away costumes, sexual shenanigans, split-second timing, slamming doors, and a recurring plate of sardines. Pittsburgh Public Theater's cast of exceptional skill and stamina is Karen Baum (Poppy, the Assistant Stage Manager), Scott Cote (Tim, the Stage Manager), Preston Dyar (Frederick/Philip/Sheikh), Garrett Long (Belinda/Flavia), Michael MacCauley (Lloyd, the Director), Noah Plomgren (Garry/Roger), Ralph Redpath (Selsdon/The Burglar), Helena Ruoti (Dotty/Mrs. Clackett), and Laura Woyasz (Brooke/Vicki).

The design team for Noises Off is Michael Schweikardt (Scenic), Amy Clark (Costumes), Kirk Bookman (Lighting), and Zach Moore (Sound). The Dialect Coach is Don Wadsworth. The Production Stage Manager is Fred Noel and the Assistant Stage Manager is Kelly Haywood.

Michael Frayn's Noises Off started in London in 1982 and ran for five years. It debuted on Broadway in 1983. In addition to Noises Off, Frayn has written dozens of other works for the stage. His play, Copenhagen, received the Tony Award for Best Play in 2000. He is also a translator, novelist, and the author of numerous non-fiction books. He lives in London.

Performances of Noises Off are Tuesdays at 7 pm; Wednesdays thru Saturdays at 8 pm (except Wednesday, June 11), Saturdays at 2 pm (except May 31 and June 7), and Sundays at 2 and 7 pm (except Sunday, June 29 when the final performance is at 2 pm). There will also be a performance at 2 pm on Thursday, June 26. Opening Night is Friday, June 6. Tickets are $29 to $60. Tickets for students and those age 26 and younger are $15.75 with valid ID.
