Jinkx Monsoon, the 2013 winner of the hit TV competition "RuPaul's Drag Race," and her onstage partner and pianist Major Scales, will bring their sensational pop culture celebration, The Vaudevillians, to Pittsburgh Public Theater this summer. The show runs for four performances only at the O'Reilly Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater's home in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District. Performance times are Thursday, July 11 & Friday, July 12 at 8 pm and Saturday, July 13 at 5:30 & 9 pm. Current subscribers will have an exclusive pre-sale opportunity beginning Thurs., Dec. 13 and tickets go on sale to the general public on Mon., Dec. 17 at 10 am. For tickets call 412.316.1600, go to ppt.org, or visit the Box Office.
As conceived by Jerick Hoffer (Jinkx) and Richard Andriessen (Major), the vaudeville performers Kitty Witless and Dan Von Dandy were frozen in an avalanche during the 1920s. Thanks to global warming they are now thawed, and appalled to learn what 21st century artists have done to "their" music. The Vaudevillians deliver songs from the likes of Lady Gaga, DJ Kool, Gloria Gaynor, and Janis Joplin in their own unique style. Expect ball gowns, put-downs, catty remarks, and lyrical larks in this vintage cabaret with a twist of drag. Contains strong sexual content and profanity.
Ticket prices start at $30.
Discounts for groups of 10+ are available by contacting Casey Helm at 412.316.8200 ext. 704 or chelm@ppt.org.
