Experience Stephen Sondheim's musical masterpiece like never before with a full-piece orchestra - a rare treat for Sondheim fans and a first for Pittsburgh audiences! The University of Pittsburgh Repertory Theatre joins forces with the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to bring the full strength and power of this macabre musical thriller to life on stage. Pitt Rep's take on this musical classic throws the spotlight on Mrs. Lovett in new and exciting ways. Teaching artist-in-residence Theo Allyn plays the malicious pie-baking maven alongside Richard Teaster, the Music Director of the Pitt Men's Glee Club, who stars in the lead role.

Don't miss a special preview of the show on Saturday, October 22 at noon when select members of the cast will perform a Sweeney Todd flash mob in the Pittsburgh Public Market in the Strip District. The exact details are top secret, but it promises to be quite the experience.

Pitt Rep's recently relaunched website offers enhanced experiences for audience members, including a behind-the-scenes look at the creation process in our new production blog, the original Sweeney Todd penny dreadful available for download as a free eBook, and wallpapers for your computer, phone, and iOS devices. All available for download at http://play.pitt.edu/mainstage/sweeney.
