Fresh off his appearance on "American Idol," David Osmond will help kick-off Pittsburgh CLO's 63rd Summer Season in the title role of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, playing May 26 through June 7 at the Benedum Center, located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District.

He joins a starry cast, highlighted by previously announced Broadway veterans Peter Matthew Smith (Pharaoh) and Shoshana Bean (Narrator).

David Osmond previously played Joseph in Pittsburgh CLO's 1998 production of the show in 1998 and recently advanced to the "Hollywood Round" of "American Idol."

The fourth son of Alan Osmond, oldest of the performing Osmond Brothers, David Osmond began performing as the lead singer with his own brothers when he was four years old. Known in the early years as The Osmond Boys, David Osmond and his brothers were discovered by the late Bob Hope. By the 1980s, they evolved into The Osmonds: 2nd Generation, signed with both Curb Records in the United States and Epic/Sony in Europe; had three songs in the Top 40 in the U.K.; and played to sold-out stadiums and arenas in the United States, Europe and Asia. The brothers appeared on "Good Morning America," "Live with Regis and Kathy Lee," "CBS This Morning" and "Entertainment Tonight," among other shows.

David Osmond stepped away from the group when he became his Uncle Donny's understudy in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat during Donny Osmond's run in various North American National Tours that ran from 1992 through 1997. David Osmond then continued as Joseph in a National Touring Company of the musical, produced by Pittsburgh CLO.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is sponsored by PNC as part of the PNC Spotlight Series. Pittsburgh CLO gratefully acknowledges the generosity of our Season Sponsors: American Airlines, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and WTAE-TV, Giant Eagle for its sponsorship of select half-price children's tickets for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and American Airlines for its sponsorship of Into the Woods.

Tickets start at just $18.50 and are available online at pittsburghCLO.org, by calling 412-456-6666 or at the Box Office at Theater Square. Groups of 10 or more may call 412-325-1582.

Since 1946, the Pittsburgh CLO has been the driving force behind live musical theater in Pittsburgh and the entire Southwestern Pennsylvania region. Pittsburgh CLO is a not-for-profit arts organization that appreciates the support of nearly 200,000 patrons each year. Its dedication to the musical theater art form extends beyond the summer season with such programs as the CLO Academy, the CLO Mini Stars, the Gene Kelly Awards, the Construction Center for the Arts and the CLO Cabaret.
