Point Park University graduate Marcus Stevens returns to Pittsburgh to play God. Currently living and working in New York City, Marcus appeared in two editions of the popular revue, Forbidden Broadway, and can be heard on the original cast albums of Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging! and Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking. In Pittsburgh he performed in CLO's Forever Plaid and at The Public in The Comedy of Errors and Cabaret. Also an award-winning playwright, his Yo, Vikings! has been published by Samuel French, Inc.
Joining Marcus on Scenic Designer Michael Schweikardt's heavenly set are Tim McGeever as the angel Michael, who will go into the audience with a microphone for those who dare to question God, and John Shepard as the Bible-toting angel Gabriel. An Act of God is based on David Javerbaum's 2011 book, The Last Testament: A Memoir by God, and his Twitter account @TheTweetofGod, which had more than two million followers before it ended last year. In the play, a petulant God has wrath-management issues. He's mad at the way humans have misinterpreted his words and actions and is here to enact new laws. In a grand finale musical production number, God and the angels share their vision for Universe 2.0.
In addition to Michael Schweikardt, the design team for An Act of God is Valerie M. Webster (Costumes), Andrew David Ostrowski (Lighting), and Zach Moore (Sound). Pamela Brusoski is the Production Stage Manager.
