Gettsyburg Community Theatre Announces CAMELOT Cast

Gettysburg Community Theatre, the not-for-profit 501c3 organization located in the former Elks Lodge at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in historic downtown Gettysburg, PA, will present Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT August 14-23, 2015 at 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2pm on Sundays. The production is being directed by Mike Baker, with vocal music direction by Jane Johnston, and choreography by Nikki Bull. Leading the cast is GCT's Founding Executive/Artistic Director, Chad-Alan Carr, as he steps out of the director's chair and onto the stage in the iconic role of King Arthur. His two co-stars are actually former students of his from years ago, Katie Pellegrino plays Guenevere, and Owen Yingling plays Lancelot. John Rudy will play Lord Pellinore, Eric Watson will play Mordred, Amy Janos plays Nimue, Benjamin Incaprera plays Squire Dap, Max Carlson plays Tom of Warwick, and the cast also includes Adam Smith, Zachary MacLeod, Ian Kress, Samantha Haskell, Dani Meyers, Allyson Nace, Madison Melton, Kaetlin Wienholt, and Linden Carbaugh in the ensemble as Knights and Ladies.

An obvious favorite musical of the Kennedy Administration, and one of the most popular Broadway shows of the 1960s, not only did Camelot run for over a year, but its original cast album was one of the top selling albums of the year. The show features Music, Book and Lyrics by creative duo Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe (My Fair Lady, Brigadoon) and is based on the King Arthur legends found in T.H White's novel The Once and Future King. The show has had more success on Broadway than in London, despite the obvious British interest in the show and legends overall. Julie Andrews and Richard Burton are famous names that have been attached to the show, which has memorable songs such as 'The Simple Joys of Maidenhood', 'If Ever I Would Leave You', 'How To Handle A Woman', 'What Do The Simple Folk Do?', and the title song 'Camelot'.

Tickets are now on sale for this production which will be quite different than any other production of Camelot patrons may have seen, as it will be in GCT's very intimate 80 seat black box theatre. Director Mike Baker has previously directed A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum and Oliver! for GCT, and is a graduate of both Millersville University and Gettysburg College.
GCT's current show Rodgers & Hammerstein's CAROUSEL runs through June 21, 2015 at GCT.
