Barebones productions kicks off its 2019 Season with The Legend of Georgia McBride. Written by Matthew Lopez and directed by Patrick Jordan, The Legend of Georgia McBride runs from February 14, 2019- March 9, 2010 in the Barebones Black Box in Braddock. The Opening Night performance is Valentine's Day, Thursday February 14m 2019.

About Georgia McBride: Casey is an Elvis impersonator with everything going for him, including a flashy sequin jumpsuit. But just like that he loses his gig, rent is overdue and his wife announces a baby on the way. So, when Elvis leaves the building and a drag show moves in, "The King" transforms into an all-out queen with the help of some new friends who become the second family Casey never saw coming. With snappy zingers and dance-worthy numbers, this wildly entertaining story will challenge your assumptions with extraordinary humor and depth.

"This is a bit of a departure for us" says Patrick Jordan, barebones Artistic Director. "While still exploring socially relevant and of-the-moment themes, we wanted to bring a message of self-love into the forefront to open this Season. We've all been so beat-up lately with the barrage of negativity and conflict- we found the perfect piece that brings themes of acceptance and transformation. We're at an important time in history right now where we are rewriting what it means to be yourself." Jordan continues "In addition it's a chance to really let our hair down here- it's going to be fun."

The cast features a bevy of multi-talented powerhouses and is led by Andrew Swackhammer (Casey), originally from Pittsburgh now residing and working in New York, and Shua Potter (Ms. Tracy Mills), who has just returned to live in Pittsburgh after years of work in New York. Potter also has an unstoppable drag persona who has been making her rounds in Pittsburgh since his return. The cast is rounded out by barebones newcomers Justin Lonesome (Rexy) and Sarah Williams (Jo).

The creative team includes Andrew David Ostrowski (Lighting), veteran costumer, Ange Vesco, LaTrea D. (Choreography), and Brittany Spinelli (Stage Manager). Georgia McBride is directed and produced by barebones' Artistic Director Patrick Jordan.
