Act II Playhouse announces that it is bringing its hit winter show, Heeere's Tony!, back for one night only, as a fundraiser for the theatre's programming, on Sunday, June 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Hosted by local star Tony Braithwaite, Heeere's Tony! was a critical and commercial success for Act II when it premiered at Act II in January. The Philadelphia Inquirer's Howard Shapiro wrote that Braithwaite was "witty" and "spur-of-the-moment funny."
Heeere's Tony! ~The Fundraiser will again feature special guests, a comic monologue and skits and songs, all modeled on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show.
"We're putting the fun back in fundraiser," said Act II Development Director Howie Brown, who also serves as the show's host and Braithwaite's Ed McMahon-like sidekick.
Confirmed guests thus far are NBC 10 news anchor Dawn Timmeney, actor Rob McClure (from Broadway's Avenue Q) and actress Alyse Alan Louis (from Broadway's Mamma Mia). Any additional guests will be announced on Act II's web site, www.act2.org.
"Sidekick" tickets to the performance are $100 ($67 of which is tax deductible).
"Green Room" tickets are $200 ($80 tax deductible), and they include a backstage pass complete with cocktails, desserts, face time with the celebrities, a tour of Act II's backstage, a chance to sign the production wall to be a part of Act II history, and two free tickets to the opening night of any show in the 2011-12 season.
"On the Couch" tickets are $500 ($330 tax deductible), and they include the opportunity to be one of the "Special Celebrity Guests" on Heeere's Tony! Braithwaite will interview the ticketholder just like the other celebs. "On the Couch" ticketholders will also be listed as one of the show's honorary producers, and will be given a second seat in the audience for a guest.
