Times are tough for the people of the village, so Hansel and Gretel are sent into the woods to gather berries. They get lost in the forest where they meet up with a number of peculiar characters. A fiery troll who guards his little wooden bridge from all who attempt to cross over it, and an articulate owl, giving advice to anyone who will listen. They are misdirected by a forest sprite, and two hobgoblins, in the service of an evil (but extremely funny) witch, meet them at every turn to guide them to the witch’s delightfully yummy house. The witch makes Gretel cook and clean from morning until night and locks poor Hansel in a cage fattening him up by feeding him nothing but cake! Gretel, however, outwits the crone freeing herself, her brother and all the children who have been turned into cookies. This musical is sweetened delightfully with great music; a must see for the entire family. Presented by East Valley Children's Theatre at the Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse.
