Theatre Artist's Studio, the Valley's only Equity Member Project Code theatre, will present a special event on Sunday, May 13, in celebration of Mother's Day.  Music and Musings in Celebration of Mothers will feature popular songs from Broadway and the great American Songbook and amusing and poignant readings about mothers by Studio members and others.

The music will be provided by five Studio members who tour together as "16 Bars Cabaret."  Charlotte Brooks, Christy Welty, Sydney Davis, Susan Back and Lynn Timmons Edwards have been singing together since 2010 and have performed at the Herberger Theater Center as well as at The Studio. They will be joined by special musical guest artists and Studio members Scott Hyder and Joe Bousard. The original readings are the creation of the Studio's artistic and sustaining members, several of whom have been writing under the guidance of Debra Rich's inspiring workshops, Writings from the Heart. The cast of readers includes artistic members Judy Lebeau, Maureen Dias, Charlotte Brooks and Lorraine Bousard; sustaining member Lynn Jaffe and local actress Kira Morford.

The performance will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be followed by a champagne reception.  It's a perfect way to spend Mother's Day afternoon with your mom or that special woman in your life.

No ticket is required; pay as you can donations will be accepted at the door. Special reserved seating and program recognition will be provided for anyone who would like to donate a minimum of $100 to the "Spring for The Studio" Challenge Grant Campaign in honor or memory of a special woman. This is a great way to recognize that special wife, mother or grandmother.

To reserve your seat or get more information about our challenge grant campaign, please call The Studio at 602-765-0120. The Studio is located on Paradise Village Parkway East, two blocks north of Cactus. Doors will open for the event at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
