How do you measure justice? How do you weigh a life? How do you define a friendship?

Joanna McClelland Glass' play is inspired by her real-life experience as personal secretary to the brilliant and irascible Judge Fancis Biddle, U. S. Attorney General during WWII and Chief Justice for the Nuremberg Trials.

In the last year of his life, Biddle is imperious and rigid. He is also painfully aware of his failing health and deteriorating faculties, haunted by his past and fearful he may not be able to complete is autobiography in time to tell his side of history.

Hired by Biddle's wife to help him finish his work and put his affairs in order, enter Sara Schorr of the plains of Saskatchewan. Sarah's humble beginnings would seem no match for this scion of American aristocracy. But, in her persistent head-butting, these unlikely partners discover each other's fears, regrets, hopes and humor. Ultimately, can they find common ground and even friendship?

Trying features Studio Member Alan Austin as Francis Biddle and guest artist Vanessa Benjamin as Sarah. Produced by Walt Pedano with direction by Judy Rollings, performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm from January 12 through February 4, 2018.

Tickets are $25 for General Admission, $15 for Students 25 & Under and $20 for Groups of 10 or More, Seniors 65 and over and Members of the Military. For tickets, call the box office at 602-765-0120 or visit: www.thestudiophx.org.
