Geared primarily towards the adult theatregoer, All Puppet Players will unleash its edgy cast of possessed puppets in conjunction with the 40 Year anniversary of the iconic movie The Exorcist.
"I had been toying with the concept of interpreting an epic motion picture onstage," saysShaun Michael McNamara, Owner and Artistic Director for All Puppet Players. "It had to be the perfect movie, and it had to be the right time. Late one night, I popped in The Exorcist and realized that this controversial movie was ripe for puppet-infused parody," continues McNamara. "For those of you that have been living under a rock, the story line is about the demonic possession of a 12 year old girl and her mother's desperate attempts to win back her child's soul through an exorcism by two Roman Catholic priests." McNamara claims, "It screams FUN, it is the perfect edgy piece to bring to the stage. What else could you want from a night out than a gaggle of googly-eyed puppets rotating their heads and spewing pea soup?"
All Puppet Players are a nomadic theatre troupe whose sole purpose is to create quirky and innovative stage shows using puppetry to demolish the "typical" theatre experience and add a bit of anarchy to every stage on which they perform. The company has garnered numerous awards and recognitions for their productions and live events.
McNamara and his molting, motley crews of "puppets behaving badly" are fresh from their triumphant performances to sell-out crowds in California.
