Theater Works has announced its YouthWorks season opener LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, which opens tonight, August 31st. Check out the talented Street Urchins, Ashley Sneddon, Camille Gribbons and Jenell Angel in this cult classic.
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, is a rock musical about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several show-stoppers including Skid Row (Downtown),Somewhere That's Green, and Suddenly, Seymour, as well as the title song.
Winner of multiple awards including Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Musical and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Off Broadway Musical, Best Score and Best Musical LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is "giddy, irresistible entertainment...," said Women's Wear Daily. Directed by Chris Hamby, Theater Works Director of Outreach Programming, this production stars Skyler Lynch Washburn as Seymour, Katie Enstrom as Audrey and Joseph Zachry Funk as Audrey II.
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS runs tonight, August 31st - September 16th with performances Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets are now on sale both online at theaterworks.org and at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. The Box Office is open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily and may be reached at 623-815-7930. Tickets for these performances are only $13.00 per person plus fees.
