The Nash welcomes the new year hosting a wide array of jazz artists and events. Highlights include the great vibraphonist Warren Wolf on Jan 17, a new "pro-jam session" with Lewis Nash on Jan 24 and a celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement with a new Jazz Meets Poetry event on Jan. 19.
The Nash is located at 110 E. Roosevelt St on Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix.

STIG is an all-instrumental, progressive jazz/funk band from Boston, MA.
Consisting of 5 close friends, STIG aims to bring people together with their music. The tight communication and positive energy shared between everyone in the group brews a raw and exciting experience at every show. STIG came together during their time at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. They spent most of their first year together playing sweaty, overflowing basement shows in Allston, the student filled neighborhood in Boston. STIG's music is all original and is always written as a group to draw from everyone's genre-crossing influences.

Petite 3 is the collective name of three friends and New England Conservatory alums: pianist Shane Simpson, saxophonist Travis Bliss, and drummer Jonathan Starks. As a band, they are dedicated to performing early jazz reminiscent of the roaring 20s and 30s as well as their arrangements of the Ragtime music of Scott Joplin, drawing inspiration from player pianos, minimalism, social gatherings, dance, glitch art, and comedy duo Tim and Eric. Every Petite 3 performance is a step into the past as well as the future, bound to offer a wild and memorable evening.

Bob Ravenscroft, the widely-acclaimed jazz keyboardist and composer, is all about a lifelong pursuit of making great jazz music and exploring new ground. The Arizona Republic recently named his trio "Best Jazz Group." Ravenscroft's unique playing style has been described as everything from sensitive and seasoned to far-ranging and free or "impressionistic." Whatever it is, it's always "something else!"

Jim Nistico was born in Syracuse, NY, and raised in a musical home with older brother Sal Nistico paving the way on saxophone. Jim got started on clarinet at age 10, switching to tenor sax (Sal's hand me down) at age 15. He played his first professional gig at 16 and continued playing in local clubs until age 21, when he landed a "pit band "gig at 3 Rivers Inn in upstate NY, backing Patti Page, Jerry Vale, Al Martino , and several other music legends of the day. From there, he joined Stan Collela and the official N.Y.State band playing for Bob Hope, Rosemary Clooney, Maxine Sullivan, Jack Jones, Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole and the whole Motown Circuit.

The 36-year-old Baltimore native plays the vibes with amazing control, sensitive touch and fiery percussive skills. Wolf puts on a show that takes his audience on a joyride - from grooving stuff to straight burning stuff. "My live shows are all about giving the audience a little bit of everything, not just one style of music or one type of jazz. I like to show that there's always another side of Warren Wolf," says the classically trained multi- instrumentalist.

When vocalist Renee Grant Patrick, daughter of the late George Grant (who traveled the world singing lead tenor for the Ink Spots in the 80's & 90's) lost her father in January of last year (2016), she combined talents with Suzanne Lansford (violin) and Nicole Pesce (piano) to pay tribute to some of their favorite Ink Spots' songs, one of them being "We Three".

This shows features two world-renowned trumpet players who made their marks in different musical genres - Vax in jazz as co-leader of the Stan Kenton Orchestra, and Romm as a principal in the classical Canadian Brass. As their tours crossed paths around the world over 45 years, Vax and Romm mused about doing an album together. Finally recorded this summer at The Nash, "Collaboration" personifies their relentless passion for the music through an eclectic repertoire ranging from a Gospel Hymn and Hayden Concerto to Coronet Chop Suey, The Summer Knows, The Shadow of Your Smile, to Clifford Brown and BeBop. This CD release party will recreate some of the great moments of project, performed by the original cast of characters.
