Following an acclaimed inaugural event in 2017, Sedona Wolf Week (SWW) is back this coming April 17-21 for its second year with an extraordinarily diverse line up of events and speakers. A joint project of Plan B to Save Wolves and Apex Protection Project, Sedona Wolf Week's mission is to change the way people view wolves and to affect how the government develops policies regarding wolves while creating respect and protections for this essential apex predator. Last year's event was an unprecedented success with 55% of participants traveling from outside of Sedona and Arizona to take part in the inaugural event.

"Wolves are essential to the ecosystem as an apex predator, which has been scientifically proven. The objective of wolf week is to dispel the myths and fairy tales about wolves, to present the facts while providing a once in a lifetime experience to interact with these magnificent creatures." Notes Betsy Klein, Co-Founder, Plan B to Save Wolves. "Education is key to co-existence and the survival of wolves."

True to their mission to fully advocate for these magnificent creatures, SWW is offering numerous free events featuring speakers from all over the country including Keynote Speaker Carter Niemeyer, author of Wolfer and Wolf Land, KC York for a Trap Free Montana, Rachel Tilseth speaking about the wolves of Douglas County Wisconsin, Craig Miller from Defenders of Wildlife, Arizona Department of Agriculture representative and rancher Kevin McFee, rancher and member of The Working Circle Collaborative Joe Engleheart, Paula Ficara and Steve Wastell, Founders of Apex Protection Project and Marc Cooke, Executive Director for Wolves of the Rockies.

Participants will also have the rare opportunity to meet and interact with the Apex Protection Project Wolf Ambassador Pack; USDA certified educational animals that travel the country generating awareness, understanding, and support for wolves and wolfdogs.

On Wednesday, April 18, Plan B to Save Wolves and Apex Protection Project will be launching their new initiative I Am Wolf Nation, an online advocacy platform designed for individuals and organizations worldwide to join to lend their voice to help save wolves and all wildlife. When individuals and organizations join I Am Wolf Nation, they are simply taking a pledge to be responsive and provide a voice when one is needed, specifically for wolves, respect all walks of life, and treat all sentient beings with kindness and respect.

Highlights of Sedona Wolf Week include:

  • An evening with Nate Blakeslee, author of poignant book AMERICAN WOLF: A True Story of Survival and Obsession in the West. Days after Crown acquired the book, Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions picked up the rights, with Scott Cooper (Black Mass) set to direct. American Wolf chronicles the story of the Yellowstone Wolves through the lens of the life of one wolf, O-Six, whose own story became entangled in the political strife around her.
  • A Children's workshop where kids can learn more about wolves and how they are like families with storytelling and interaction with the Apex Ambassador Pack.
  • Predator Friendly Fundraising Dinner with Carter Niemeyer who was integral to the reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone. He will entertain you with how he went from wolf trapper and hunter to becoming one of their most vocal advocates while you enjoy a meal prepared with ingredients from Predator Friendly farms and ranchers.
  • Wolf Socials with the Apex Ambassador Pack are a once in a lifetime experience and the money raised helps fund the pack's daily care.
  • Philip Folsom Workshop: Wolf Tribe Transformation Program. Folsom's newest program, the module is built around the acknowledged premise that human beings operate best in tribal systems and that key components of successful tribal structure is based on wolf pack behavior. In short, if we want to recreate a contemporary high performing, fulfilling and healthy tribe we must hack the behavior of the pack. Folsom's clients include Red Bull, Apple Computer and Space X.
