This weekend during the season finale of their acclaimed Artists Coffee Talk series, Goldenstein Gallery hosts artists Adele Seronde and and Reagan Word. Though they work in different mediums both are known for pieces that beckon the viewer into engaging with the surrounding world. The public is invited to visit with them this Saturday, November 18th, at Goldenstein Gallery at 9:30am.
Curated by Linda Goldenstein this popular series was created to facilitate a more personal connection between people and the artists they love. On Saturday mornings at 9:30am, through this Saturday, November 18th, Goldenstein invites the public to enjoy a cup of coffee while they get to know both the artist and their art, learning what inspires them and about individual art pieces.
"An artist's work is always evolving. Each new piece is a living reflection metaphorically of the artist themselves," muses Linda Goldenstein "When someone gazes upon a piece of art and has a visceral response, they are experiencing a connection with that artist. One of the driving beliefs behind my gallery is that art, and that connection, has the power to change peoples lives for the better. Our mission is Life Enhancement through Art."
The daughter of former Massachusetts Governor and Secretary of State Christian Herter, Adele Seronde is an artist, author and visionary who has created a bold body of work throughout her life. Her expressionist landscapes have been on display at dozens of galleries including the Weedon and Nova galleries in Boston, and the Vigna Nuova Gallery and other galleries in Florence, Italy.
Known for her unique style of painting she does not use an easel. Instead, she prefers to lay the canvas flat on the ground, often placing additional canvases around it expanding the painting. She says of this style "The sense of spiritual space in Arizona is so overwhelming that it encompasses my whole life. I found that one canvas could never contain the energy; my paintings began to flow from an initial canvas into two or three juxtaposed canvasses, developing new rhythms and contexts. Now I feel the landscapes leaping into a variety of new shapes; the enormous vitality of these mountains and deserts, governed by their ancient presences, shouts to me and absolutely demands to be transformed into color."
Locals and visitors alike are captivated by Reagan Word's stunning piece "The Open Gate" which stands in the Roundabout at Schnebly Hill Rd. For years he was known for his exquisite 3-D renderings for architects and notes that this work ultimately taught him to push the boundaries of his imagination. Working in multiple mediums, he says of his work "My calling is to make visible ideas that inspire and motivate others to look at the beauty of not only this creation but venture beyond and imagine what is yet to be."
Goldenstein Gallery is also hosting a book signing for "A Year In Sedona: Meeting The Muse At Wisdom's Edge" with author Melanie Lee an award-winning writer, editor and the founder of Sojourns Writing Workshops in Santa Fe, New Mexico. An inspirational travel memoir, A Year In Sedona is about taking a leap of faith, meeting the muse and discovering new meaning and purpose. At the second half of life, Lee and Louis Michalski moved to Sedona. Here they learned to see with fresh eyes by rekindling an old love affair with the muse as they found other creative spirits lighting a new path, not only for their own generation but for others to follow. The stories of the artists, writers, social visionaries, shamans, healers and spiritual seekers they encountered will entertain, instruct and maybe even inspire you to embark on your own journey to meet the muse at wisdom's edge.
