PuppetWorks presents two glowing and fun-filled originals this holiday season. The holiday installment of TheaterWorks' PuppetWorks series brings two original plays by Jeremiah Neal.
In Elf Initiation, new elves in training destroy Santa's toy-making machine. Now they must set out to find more supersonic ice crystals and save the day. Along the way they meet a not-so-scary Abominable Snow Man and have a strange adventure in the candy cane forest. Will they save the day in time for Santa to make his deliveries?
Act Two features a second play, Saving Santa. In this adventure, Santa is at risk of being exposed by some meddling kids and it is up to a group of clever talking presents to save the day. This fun holiday adventure is full of comic hi-jinx involving quirky elves, a cookie loving Santa, a Dad who loves Christmas, and the return of our elves in training. This is truly amusing family show that tries to prove the age-old question, "Is Santa really real?"
Both plays will be performed in a black light style of puppetry providing a magical experience in which the puppets, scenery and audience glow in the dark.
Each performance features a post-show tutorial on the puppets used and an overview on how the puppets are operated. An optional "Make and Take" Workshop is available where audience members are given the opportunity to make and take home their own simple puppet as a remembrance of their experience.
Elf Initiation & Saving Santa will play on the Gyder stage at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts December 16 & 23 for four performances only. Single Tickets $8.
