Prescott Fine Arts Association is partnering with the Prescott Public Library to present Reader's Theatre performances free to the public. Galileo's Heavenly Dream will be performed on Sunday, October 18th in the Library's Founders Suite at 2 p.m.
When the father of modern physics dozes off waiting for his heresy trial, history's greatest scientists, saints, and sages show up to help Galileo take on the dreaded Inquisition. A troupe of renaissance mountebanks brings our hero and his discoveries to life, spinning a tuneful comic tapestry that includes smatterings of Darwin, Einstein, the Bible, Buddha and Hindu Scripture. It's science vs. religion for kids of all ages. Its Nova meets Monty Python...at a Renaissance Faire!
Reader's Theatre performances offer play readings without the sets and full costumes of a stage performance, offering audiences an intimate atmosphere and challenging directors and actors with their minimal setting.
These performances complement PFAA's mission statement, which in part is to provide opportunities for members of the greater community to participate in the arts and contribute to the education, quality of life and economic vitality of Arizona.
