The musical comedy classic Guys and Dolls rolls onto the Arizona Broadway Theatre stage February 27 through April 5, 2009. Guys and Dolls is the fifth production in ABT's fantastic fourth season.

Considered by many to be the perfect musical, Guys and Dolls is a high-energy story with colorful characters out of the world of Damon Runyon. This slick romantic comedy takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, with high-rolling crapshooters and their "dolls," and an over-the-top nightclub performer and her down-on-his-luck fiancé. Frank Loesser's score is bright and brassy, and features some of Broadway's most memorable songs, including the hits Luck Be A Lady, If I Were A Bell, and Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat. The musical was first produced on Broadway at the 46th Street Theatre in 1950, and had an initial run of 1,200 performances, winning five Tony Awards, including the one for Best Musical. The show has enjoyed six Broadway revivals and a 1955 movie starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.

About the Cast

"We are thrilled to bring some familiar faces back to the ABT stage for this exciting production," stated Cassandra Norville Klaphake, ABT's Artistic Producer and Casting Director. Jeannie Shubitz is one of the returning alums. She will portray Sarah Brown, a young sergeant at the ‘Save-A-Soul Mission.' ABT audience members will remember Jeannie as Marian Paroo in last summer's The Music Man, as well as earlier performances as Fiona in Brigadoon and Josephine in HMS Pinafore. Other returning actors include Michael Hedges (Damn Yankees, Kiss Me, Kate) as Nathan Detroit and Mark DiConzo (Cabaret, A Christmas Carol) as Sky Masterson. Making her ABT debut is New York City-based actress, Erin O'Neil, as Miss Adelaide. "Erin brings a great spark to the character of Adelaide," Klaphake continued. "She is a cross between Betty Boop and Lucille Ball; her comic timing is flawless."
