Arizona Broadway Theatre welcomes the New Year with the high energy musical Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. Originally a popular MGM film, ABT brings the classic stage production to the stage through February 16. Tickets can be purchased now at azbroadway.org or by calling the ABT box office at (623) 776-8400. Check out a first look below!
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers tells the story of Milly, a young bride living in the 1850's Oregon wilderness, and her plans to civilize and marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law to ensure the success of her own marriage. Packed with rambunctious dance numbers and intense action sequences, the show is full of fun and romance that harkens back to the glory days of the movie musical.
"This show is known for its rolling mountain landscapes, many locations and some of the most athletic choreography recorded," said Andy Meyers, director of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. "For that reason it is rarely produced by theatres, but I love the challenge of bringing this magnificent and loved story to the ABT stage."
Andy Meyers is a familiar face to ABT patrons as a performer and director (The Sound of Music, The Winter Wonderettes - director). He will work alongside ABT veteran Kurtis W. Overby, who will be choreographing the production. The show stars a large cast of 24 performers, including many new faces from across the country. Leading the group of triple-threats are Shelley Jenkins (Joseph..., Hello, Dolly!) as Milly Bradon and ABT newcomerBrian Krinsky as Adam Pontipee. The complete cast list can be found at azbroadway.org.
Tickets are on sale now for evening and matinee performances. Prices vary according to date, time and availability. Seven Brides For Seven Brothers is a family-friendly production.
