The Theatre Artists' Studio in Phoenix will present STRANGERS IN THE BEDROOM, two one act plays by Harold Pinter, through September 4.  The production will be directed by David Middleman and will include THE LOVER and ASHES TO ASHES.

In THE LOVER, says the Theatre Artists' Studio, "An ordinary day begins. A husband checks his tie before heading off to work. Gathers his coat, his briefcase, then asks his wife about her plans for the day. A rather prosaic beginning to the day for an unremarkable couple. Perhaps they remind you of your neighbors, or a couple you meet for drinks from time to time. Perhaps they remind you of yourself. Then the husband asks his wife:

Is your lover coming today?

Huh? This could be interesting . . .

Studio members Tom Noga and Debra Rich provide a terrific pairing as Richard and Sarah - the couple-next-door with a decided, devilish twist. Simultaneously disturbing and hilarious, THE LOVER will lead you to ponder who's doing what to whom. And perhaps more importantly, WHY?"

In ASHES TO ASHES,"We all have secrets - things we keep hidden about ourselves, even from those closest to us. How well do we know each other? How well do we even know ourselves? Harold Pinter's masterpiece, Ashes to Ashes, is a minefield of questions. What is real about us, what is not? Devlin wants to know about a lover in Rebecca's past. An almost mythic creature, what hold did he have over her? What hold does he still have? When does reality cross over into fantasy? What are the stakes?

Studio member Karen Burns and her husband, Keith Burns, bring a taut immediacy to this tale of violent intimacy, rediscovered memories, and the tightrope of marginalized sanity."
