a celebration of choral music
October 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm, Camelback Bible Church
Phoenix Chorale welcomes back its family of subscribers and donors to reconnect through music after a long hiatus.
UNCLOUDED Day is a celebration of the beauty of choral music, featuring diverse settings of uplifting and comforting texts and offering thanks for the opportunity to meet again in person and make music. Three traditional American melodies form the backbone of the repertoire, which has as its central point Sir Benjamin Britten's choral masterpiece Hymn to St Cecilia, an ode in praise of the Roman martyr and patron saint of music. Choral favorites by Morten Lauridsen and Ola Gjeilo complete the program, along with two contemporary British works by Roxanna Panufnik and Roderick Williams.
The Phoenix Chorale will be performing this concert for its dedicated patrons, which will be filmed for future distribution. Space is limited and tickets will only be available to 2019/20 subscribers and recent donors.

re:BIRTH offers the chance to reflect on renewal and growth - both literally and metaphorically. This is the first concert of our "Phoenix Masterworks" programs, in each of which we intend to present a work that is indisputably a masterpiece of its genre. This year we shine the spotlight on Aaron Copland's 'In the Beginning'. Also in this terrific program, prominent Phoenix musician and Chorale soprano Dr Kira Zeeman Rugen's 'Out of the Ash' receives its world premiere performance.
