Fountain Hills Theater announces the opening of Neil Simon's hysterical farce Rumors.
Psst...Did you hear about...? At a tastefully appointed townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce.
Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken and wife Chris must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive.
''I was going through some difficult times,'' Neil Simon said. ''This marriage I was in was breaking up. My daughter's husband was killed in an automobile accident. It seemed like rough going. And I said I wanted to work, because work is always a cathartic process for me, and I thought it would be really good just to get into a comedy.'' And that is just what America's greatest comedic playwright did. He created Rumors a door-slamming hilarious farce which ran 535 performances on Broadway and now comes to Fountain Hills Theater for a wild ride that will have audiences rolling in the aisles.
