The magic of Disney's blockbuster Broadway hit Mary Poppins will come alive for children and families here in the Valley of the Sun as the Herberger Theater Center (HTC) and Arizona Broadway Theatre (ABT) offer foster children, supported through the generous support of Arizona Builders Alliance, an unforgettable Mary Poppins experience. The Herberger Theater has also extended this same magical opportunity to families and children affected by cancer through its partnership with Cancer Support Community Arizona. Approximately 300 children will attend Mary Poppins on Sunday, July 15, at 7:00 pm and will have the opportunity to meet Mary, herself, prior to the show.
HTC is proud to continue its partnership with the Arizona Builders Alliance. In December 2017, this partnership brought 600 foster children to attend a special performance of A Christmas Carol.
"These organizations do amazing work for our community and it is an honor to be able to welcome those they serve to share in this exciting production," said Mark Mettes, President and CEO of the Herberger Theater Center. "Partnerships with these organizations are so important to us as the Herberger Theater Center connects and engages people from throughout the community as the place Where Audience Meets Art."
Mary Poppins is on Center Stage at the Herberger Theater Center, July 6-22, 2018. Future co-productions between HTC and ABT include Sweeney Todd (Sept 4-16, 2018), An American in Paris (March 8-24, 2019), and The Addams Family (July 12-28, 2019). Herberger Theater Center: Where Audience Meets Art
The Herberger Theater Center is a 501(c)(3) Arizona non-profit organization that supports and fosters growth of the arts in Phoenix as the premier performance venue, arts incubator and advocate. Opened in 1989 and fully renovated in 2010, the Herberger Theater offers three theater venues, art gallery, plaza and rentable event space for a variety of community uses. The Herberger Theater hosts a diverse range of dramatic, dance and musical performances; is home to local theater and dance companies; its gallery provides a venue for Arizona artists to present their works; and a plaza that hosts civic and arts events. Proceeds from annual fundraising benefits its Youth Outreach Programs, designed to give Arizona children (ages 3-19) opportunities to excel, learn and heal through experience with the arts. Over the last 28 years, 4.2 million patrons have enjoyed more than 15,000 performances at the Herberger Theater. HerbergerTheater.org
