Greasepaint Theatre presents the musical, ELF JR. With music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin and book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross. The book is adapted by George Abbott and Richard Bissell from the 2003 film. The show runs December 8 through December 17, 2017 at Stagebrush Theatre, 7020 E. 2nd St. in Scottsdale.
The musical is based on Based on the motion picture about Buddy, a young orphan, who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
The Greasepaint production is directed by Dale Nakagawa, with music direction by Leslie Fields and choreography by April Rozier. Performances of the starring role of Buddy will be alternated between Casey Likes (Red Cast) and Andy Wissink (Green Cast)
Red Cast performs Fridays at 7pm and Saturdays at 2pm.
Green Cast performs Saturdays at 7pm and Sundays at 2pm.
