Greasepaint Theatre presents the musical, THE PAJAMA GAME, music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, with book by George Abbott and Richard Bissell. The show runs September 1 through September 10, 2017 at Stagebrush Theatre, 7020 E. 2nd St. in Scottsdale.

The show, based on the novel 7½ Cents by Richard Bissell, is a classic Broadway musical about the stormy romance at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory between new superintendent, Sid Sorokin and Babe Williams, leader of the union grievance committee. Sparks fly when the workers strike for a 7 ½ cent pay increase, setting off not only a conflict between management and labor, but a battle of the sexes as well.

The musical opened on May 13, 1954 at the St. James Theatre and ran for 1,063 performances. Broadway play was directed by George Abbott and Jerome Robbins, and choreographed by Bob Fosse. When the play closed on November 24, 1956, it became the eighth musical in Broadway history to exceed the 1,000-performance mark

The Original Broadway cast Included John Raitt (father of singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt) Janis Paige, Eddie Foy Jr., Carol Haney featured stage and screen legend Shirley MacLaine in one of her first Broadway appearances.

The musical was winner of three Tony Awards, including Best Actress, Supporting or Featured in a Musical (Carol Haney), Best Musical and Best Choreographer (Bob Fosse).
