Fountain Hills Community Theater Youth Theater is inviting students from Junior High through High School Seniors to join the "The Big Apple Corps" The first meeting of students wishing to join will be Saturday, August 21st, 2010 at 4:30pm at the Fountain Hills Community Theater. Parents are requested to attend with their child.

"The Big Apple Corps" is a "sweat equity" scholarship fundraising program designed to help students defray the cost of the Summer Performing Arts Program. It is open to all Junior High through High School Seniors ages 12 to 18 who are looking for community service opportunities or who want to earn financial credit to help defray the cost of the popular FHCT summer teen camp. The "Corps" requires a commitment of attending monthly meetings, and approximately a few hours of volunteering per month.

"The Big Apple Corps" fundraising events include; running concessions at all shows at FHCT, car washes, rummage sales, volunteering as tech crew on Youth and Mainstage productions, participation in various town and theater sponsored events and the extremely popular production of an original murder mystery! Additional fundraising opportunities are also available, but additional ideas from members are highly encouraged.

Sponsored each summer by the Fountain Hills Community Theater, the Performing Arts Camp is a five-week intensive course in all aspects of the performing arts: acting, music, and dance. Classes are Monday through Friday and cover auditioning techniques, mime, scene study, voice, jazz, ballet, tap, commercials and film. At the end of the five weeks students present three performances of a fully staged musical comedy performed for the public. This is followed by a sixth week during which students may opt to spend five days and four nights in New York City, see four Broadway Shows and tour many sights including The Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park and more!

The meeting will be held at the Community Theater building at 11445 N Saguaro Blvd.
