FHYT Announces Youth Auditions For NARNIA  ImageFountain Hills Youth Theater is proud to announce auditions for the first show of their 2018-2019 season, "Narnia".

"Narnia" Is the musical adaptation of C.S. Lewis' wonderful tale, "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" that will delight old and young alike! The play follows four young children as they step into an apparently plain clothing wardrobe dresser and emerge into a magical world of mythical beasts and talking animals and find themselves pawns in a war against an evil Ice Queen!

"Narnia" is based on C.S. Lewis' "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe," Book by Jules Tasca, Music by Thomas Tierney, Lyrics by Ted Drachman. It is produced by Aimee Avery and Suzanne Tomasello; directed by Ross Collins, musically directed by James Melberg, and choreographed by Noel Irick. "Narnia" is Produced by special arrangement with THE Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois

Available roles include:

  • Aslan- Male or Female 15-19 The Great Lion of Narnia (Must have a strong, powerful voice and presence.)
  • The White Witch- Female 15-19 The Evil Queen of Narnia
  • Peter Pevensie- Male 12-18 An English boy. The oldest.
  • Susan Pevensie- Female 12-18 Peter's sister.
  • Edmund Pevensie- Male 10-16 The younger brother.
  • Lucy Pevensie- Female 8-12 The youngest sibling
  • Professor Digory Kirke- Male 16-19 Their Uncle, Owner of Marbleton Manor
  • Mrs. Macready- Female 16-19 Housekeeper of the manor.
  • Mr. Beaver- Male 8-19 A cockney beaver
  • Mrs. Beaver- Female 8-19 His wife
  • Dwarf- Male or Female 8-19 The Ice Queen's minion
  • Fenris Ulf- Male 10-19 A wolf. Head of the White Witch's Secret Police.
  • Tumnus- Male or Female 8-19 A Fawn
  • Father Christmas- Male 12-19
  • The White Stag- Male or Female 12-19 Must have dance background
  • Ensemble- 4 Male, 4 Female for various ensemble roles.

"Narnia" auditions will be held at Fountain Hills Theater on July 24, 30, and 31, 2018 at 5:45pm with possible callbacks on August 1, 2018 at 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. (The corner of Saguaro and Rand). For more info, and to sign up, visit fhtaz.org/auditions

"Narnia" auditionees should be between 8 to 19 years of age, prepare a 1 to 2 minute monologue, and 16 bars of an upbeat song or ballad and be dressed to move. Bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. CD or phone plug is available.

If cast, your child will be receiving over 110 hours of professional direction from trained, industry professionals. Please be aware that if your child is cast, there is a production fee of $50.00 per participant (t-shirt provided), and a small volunteer commitment. Scholarships are available. No one will be denied participation based on ability to pay.

"Narnia" will play from September 21 to October 7, 2018. Performances Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00pm; Sundays at 2pm. Individual tickets for both youth and adults are $12.00. Group rates are available.

ABOUT FOUNTAIN HILLS THEATER

Fountain Hills Theater presents 3 regularly scheduled seasons of productions in their two theaters. The Theater's year-round offering includes Mainstage, Mainstage Too!, and Youth productions. Additionally, special events, community outreach, and educational arts programming for our youth is also offered. The Mainstage (often called the "big") theater seats 130 and is devoted to medium and large-scale popular musicals and plays including the best of Broadway and Off-Broadway. No seat is more than 35 feet from the stage. The Youth/Mainstage Too! (also called the "little" theater) is a smaller, more intimate 90-seat, thrust style auditorium that offers thought-provoking, inspiring and sometimes challenging productions including Broadway musicals, original plays, musicals, and art works. Most of the youth productions are performed in the more intimate, smaller theater. Both stages often run productions concurrently. Special events are offered throughout the season on both stages as well as in community centers. The Theater has been in operation as a professionally-directed community theater for over 30 years. The Mission of Fountain Hills Theater is "to engage, inspire and entertain diverse audiences, train and support our youth, and celebrate the essential power of the performing arts." Fountain Hills Theater is a 501(c)(3) organization. All gifts are tax deductible. The Theater is 100% funded by ticket sales and donations. Volunteer opportunities are available.
