Diablo Ballet is thrilled to announce its2018-2019 25th Anniversary season featuring beautiful classic ballets by George Balanchine and Val Caniparoli; stunning contemporary works by KT Nelson, Diablo Ballet alumna and choreographer, Tina Kay Bohnstedt; an encore presentation of Carnival of the Imagination by Robert Dekkers; and a brand new fairytale ballet, Once Upon a Time, accompanied by the Contra Costa Wind Symphony and choreographed by renowned dance maker Julia Adam.

The first program of Diablo Ballet's 25th season opens with A Swingin' Holiday and More, November 9-11, 2018, at the Del Valle Theatre in Walnut Creek. This program, features two family friendly ballets, including Diablo Ballet's audience favorite, A Swingin' Holiday by Broadway choreographer Sean Kelly (AssociateDirector of An American in Paris), with a new section specifically for this season, performed live by the 16-piece Diablo Ballet Swing Orchestra under the MusicalDirection of Greg Sudmeier. The program also features the highly anticipated return of the charming and whimsical Carnival of the Imagination choreographed by Robert Dekkers and set to Camille Saint-Saëns' famous "The Carnival of the Animals."
Diablo Ballet celebrates the New Year with Balanchine and Beyond,February 1-2, 2019, at the Del Valle Theatre in Walnut Creek. The second program of the season features the classic masterpiece, Apollo by GeorgeBalanchine; the lyrical From Another Time by Diablo Ballet alumna andc horeographer, Tina Kay Bohnstedt, composed and performed by Justin Levitt; and the classical Paquita featuring the entire company in a bravura finale. After the performance, the audience is invited to stay for a Q & A with the dancers an dchoreographers, followed by a dessert and coffee reception.
Diablo Ballet celebrates its 25th Anniversary with the world premiere of OnceUpon a Time on March 22-23, 2019, at the Lesher Center for the Arts. This fairytale adventure will take you on a journey where you will meet "Cinderella","Jack in the Beanstalk", "Snow White", "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", "TheLittle Mermaid" and more. Choreographed by renowned dance maker JuliaAdam, this full-length ballet will be accompanied by the Contra Costa WindSymphony. The program will also feature a short film retrospective celebratingDiablo Ballet's 25-year history.
The season concludes with Celebrated Masters May 3-4, 2019, featuring the beautifully romanticTryst by Val Caniparoli, originally choreographed for theSan Francisco Ballet; the exuberant Diablo Ballet signature work,Walk BeforeTalk by KT Nelson, Co-Artistic Director of ODC/Dance; and an encore presentation ofSwan Lake Suite featuring the White Swan Pas de Deux, theBlack Swan Pas de Deux, variations and finale by Marius Petipa, staged by theCompany's regisseur, Joanna Berman. After the performance, the audience is invited to stay for a Q & A with the dancers and choreographers, followed by a dessert and coffee reception.
