From the origins of modern dance in 1926 to Old Town Scottsdale in 2018, the award-winning Martha Graham Dance Company takes center stage at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 10.

"The EVE Project" performance celebrates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. Audiences will experience these incredible dance movements from the company whose founder created modern dance. This special program features a wide range of female choreographers, from the first iterations of modern dance to contemporary superstars. Guests will experience three of Graham's signature classic pieces: The Dark Meadow Suite, Ekstasis and Errand into the Maze, all stunning Graham masterworks, tell diverse narratives of women searching for connection, self-discovery and empowerment. Additionally, this program will feature new works choreographed by Annie B. Parson, Gwen Tolliver and Aszure Barton, Lamentation Variations.

Vistors are encouraged to join the Center for an evening in conversation with Janet Eilber, artistic director of Martha Graham Dance Company, Liz Lerman, local choreographer and 2002 MacArthur Fellow, and Fran Cohen, Artistic Director of Center Dance Ensemble, on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. They will discuss the company's new work and signature pieces that will be performed during "The EVE Project." This is a free event with RSVP.
